Jobs - Asphalt Pavement Association of IndianaThe Asphalt Pavement Association of Indiana (APAI) is seeking a qualified, full time Pavement Engineer to complement the existing staff. The successful candidate will: Be knowledgeable in pavement materials, construction processes, and specifications. Promote use of asphalt pavement to pavement specifiers statewide on the municipal, county, state levels and private markets, with a goal of increasing market share. Establish and maintains contact with local cities and counties to be resource and point of contact for asphalt questions. Establish and maintains contact with INDOT District and sub-district personnel. Foster excellent working environment with members and member’s customer base. Attend INDOT and industry meetings on behalf of the Association as directed. Organize and present “lunch and learn” and similar technical presentations to industry customers, including the consulting engineering community and developers statewide. Provide technical education to the media on the positive benefits of asphalt pavement. Assist association staff in the development and management of necessary marketing collateral materials to support the sales effort, including the APAI website and webinars. Assist association staff in other areas as assigned by the Executive Director Qualifications: A BS degree in Civil Engineering and a PE designation are desired. Prior knowledge of and experience with asphalt pavement construction is highly desired. 3-5 years of successful prior work experience expected. Excellent relationship building, presentation and technical selling skills are required. Ability to travel state wide extensively is required. It is anticipated that travel will be 3-4 days a week for most weeks of the year. This will include previously set appointments, meeting attendance, job site visits and “cold calls” on prospective industry customers.
This high visibility position requires a motivated self-starter who can productively build market share within a team environment with minimal direct supervision. APAI is small in terms of staff/budget but is large in terms of influence and is highly entrepreneurial. Reporting: This position reports to the Executive Director. No positions report to this position. The association outsources many functions including meeting planning, accounting and marketing/communications. The staff currently consists of an Executive Director and a part time Technical Director. Office: The APAI office is located on the west side of Indianapolis, IN. Compensation: Salary is negotiable dependent on qualifications and experience. 7.5% SEP and health insurance provided. Mileage on personal vehicle is reimbursed at IRS approved rate.
