Typically, APAI Scholarship Committee members spend the month of October traveling statewide to conduct interviews with students at the association's six partner universities. Obviously, 2020 threw everyone a curve ball and the committee was forced to change its process. It was important to the committee that in-person interviews still be conducted, so several committee members volunteered hours of their time to complete Zoom interviews with scholarship applicants, taking the opportunity to really get to know them versus just reviewing applications and making scholarship selections.

It was important to the committee that a substantial amount of scholarships be awarded in 2020. Thanks to the support of the generous support of of APAI membership, the scholarship committee was able to award $40,000 in scholarships in 2020, despite having to cancel its two biggest fundraising events, Shooting for Scholarships and the Trine University Golf Outing (both of which are returning in 2021).

We are happy to announce that several 2020 scholarship recipients have already accepted internship opportunities with APAI member companies. A few have already accepted full-time positions in Indiana's transportation industry.
