With members of eight industry associations invited to participate, this conference is the largest annual gathering of Indiana’s construction professionals. NAPA's Roadway Safety Awareness Program

The Roadway Safety Awareness Program was developed for workers on foot in a roadway work zone. Its purpose is to orient new workers and returning workers to common hazards and enhance their safety on the job. The program contents are available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

The State of HMA Recycling in the U.S.

Hot-mix asphalt (HMA) is by far the most recycled product in the nation, with 80 percent of the HMA that is taken up each year finding its way back into roadways. While this is laudable from both an environmental and economic point of view, when one considers the amount used in producing new hot mix, it is obvious that more can and should be done to promote recycling of HMA back into HMA as its best and highest use.

Porous Friction Course in Indiana: Durable and Quiet

Open graded friction courses (OGFC) got a bad rap in some parts of the country in the 1980s although they performed well in other areas, especially in the South. Designed with 10 to 15 percent air voids, OGFCs proved to be rut resistant, and their open texture provided good friction and reduced splash and spray. But in more northern climates, these surfaces had a tendency to clog with road grime and the abrasives used for snow and ice control.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Gets a Paving Face Lift

(Printed in National Asphalt Pavement Association's HMAT magazine January/February 2005)
The low-slung cars rocket along the track at over 200 mph as the tires grab the pavement for traction. Some 250,000 fans cheer from the stands while another 100,000+ yell in the infield. The location is America’s most famous racetrack, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS).
