Contractor Actions on This Project Impact the Industry
All construction companies have a primary goal of operating their business in a way that meets their corporate objectives and makes money.  At times the desire to make money on THIS project can have adverse impacts on future specifications and on pavement type selection. The impacts from this project can last decades.  This presentation will go in some detail through the many phases of a project and show how specific actions taken by contractors on THIS project impact your future as a company and the industry as a whole.  Specific issues, responses, and potential outcomes will be presented.

Infrastructure Sustainability - It's More than Recycling
In the race toward environmental sustainability, the asphalt industry has lead the way in recycling.  However, the sustainability game is changing.  In this presentation we will review the current and future of sustainability at the global and federal level and see how the changes in how we measure sustainability will impact the asphalt paving industry.  We will discuss recycling and material reuse, and we will cover more broad topics like Sustainably Rating Systems and Life Cycle Assessment.  This presentation will introduce some concepts that are likely new to highway contractors and will provide food for thought on how best to approach sustainability in a changing landscape.
